Time Management resources 2 months, 3 weeks agoEphesians 5:15-17
Be very careful, then, how you live— not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil (short).
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. -

Hear, O Israel…. 6 months agoI don’t know how other countries and other areas in Japan are doing but recently I feel we need how to obtain the view based on the principle when we see the events, economic situation, political situation of our own country/world, or various situation or events facing to our selves, to come up with the solution especially for the bros and…[Read more]

Hear, O Israel…. 6 months agoThe word of God has been very widely available to many cultures for many centuries, so clearly most of us don’t really ‘get it’. As Unificationists, we know that TP’s call to action has fallen on mostly deaf ears, not because of a lack of will or desire, but because of a lack of competence. I suggest that ‘competence’ comes by God’s grace…[Read more]

Hear, O Israel…. 6 months, 1 week ago…and so you can’t really get to know the word of God, unless you apply it to your life. so as James says: ”do what it says”. (James 1:22)
How often do we take our hoon dok hae (the time we make for studying our scripture) and write down an application for the day ahead or the week ahead that we have drawn from what we read?

Hear, O Israel…. 6 months, 1 week agonext Sunday we are looking at ‘how to study God’s word so that it translates into an application’.
God wants to change our life through His word so we should have the tools that allow us to study with practical steps that take us from reading to reflecting, meditating, and then applying.
My feeling is in our movement we skip some of these steps…[Read more] -

Hear, O Israel…. 6 months, 2 weeks agotoday (Nov 6th) after Sunday Service we had a small group 45 minute study of the ‘word’, specifically taken from TF’s Autobiography. General comments were how much more refreshing it was to ‘share’ the word, testimonies about how it impacted us and the sense of engagement with the ‘word’ on a different level or dimension, it was like being…[Read more]

Hear, O Israel…. 6 months, 2 weeks agoeven before I first met the word, i was sort of primed because of my frustration with myself & the world i observed, so in some sense I already had commitment. When I met the word, it resonated with me i could taste it. Normally a shy & retiring sort of person, i now had the courage to make decisions & do things I would never have done. This is…[Read more]

Hear, O Israel…. 6 months, 2 weeks agoWhat is scripture, the word of God that we read? Here is one definition I like that I arrived at based on a conversation with William Haines:
words written down over & over again, and always in print because people have felt and experienced God through them. They have stood the test of time, and have not become dated, and are recognised by the…[Read more] -

Hear, O Israel…. 6 months, 2 weeks agoreading TF’s biography for the 3rd time I realize how difficult it is really to ‘hear’ the word of God. Altho the following quote may seem long, please persevere! P.63: “Once I entered into prayer, I would weep, and my nose would start to run. I would pray for hours over words I had received from God…I realize that even then God had placed…[Read more]

so, part of what you are saying is about developing a commitment to God’s word. And I imagine that you would say that is something that is v much fostered by the give and take that we share in our congregation outside Sunday where we are looking into God’s word together. For that to become a habit and a tradition. We value what we invest in.

I think that definition only works up to a point. Parts of the Bible are very dated (eg large chunks of Leviticus) but have not been put aside because it is part of Biblical Canon. Unless you mean by scripture the sub set of text we regularly read?
I don’t really agree Nigel. I think some of those parts of Leviticus were relevant for the age and some were never relevant in a practical sense but were meant to imbue the reader with a subtle message. Some even code that can only be understood in light of DP so we can impress people of other faiths with DP’s depth.
How to treat a slave…[Read more]
“Some of those points were relevant for the age” my point exactly. A point the DP makes too when it explains the meaning of Sun and Moon darken: ” It is said that the Word will lose its light because, with the coming of a new era, the period of the mission of the old truth will have lapsed.” Of course there is still lots of value in the Bible…[Read more]
